SAMSON

Physical Appearance: A teenaged (biologically) gargoyle
male, Samson has the same skin and hair coloring as his (infamous)
grandmother Demona. He also shares a fair amount of her facial
features, with her high cheekbones and narrow chin; his build is
somewhat more muscular, though he is far more wiry than his brother,
Artus.

Samson is thoroughly modern in his dress, wearing
(whenever possible) the latest fashions for someone of his age
bracket; he will accede to `traditional' gargoyle dress when the
situation demands it, and he has less of a problem with it than his
sister, Gwenyvere, but he far prefers the look of his times.

Personality: In many ways, Samson is like his
grandfather Goliath, intelligent, forceful, and a little hot-
blooded. He is somewhat less patient, though, as well as far more
confident in his abilities (flaws of youth), though not quite to the
point where he's convinced himself that he's invincible. Samson is
perhaps the most `physical' of his siblings as well, finding things
like gliding and partying more to his taste of `fun' than reading or
studying.

Another major facet of Samson's personality is his
modern outlook. While he respects the old ways, and follows the
major customs, for the most part Samson is a true child of the 22nd
Century and dresses and acts accordingly. He has human friends,
often goes (or tries to go) to parties with humans, and has a way
with computers that only Lexington or another young gargoyle could
understand (he's not really skilled in them, only far more used to
them than any of his elders). In many respects, he is the model of
the newer gargoyle culture forming, one mixing elements of modern
human culture with the traditions of gargoyles – a development more
than a few older gargoyles are concerned about.

Even with all of this, he is still very devoted to his
family – especially Artus, whom Samson looks to with a minor amount
of hero-worship. Gwen can be something of a pain at times, but
ultimately Samson would like to hope that she and the rest of the
family can be reconciled. Of all his family, he is the one who is
most tolerant of Gwen's antics, and the most hurt by her `betrayal'
of the family (something I think he never quite forgives her for).

Abilities: Samson has the natural strength and physical
abilities of most other gargoyles. Where his specialties lie is in
using more modern weaponry and tactics; this is another facet of the
fact that Samson is far more in touch with the world of the 22nd
century than either of his siblings, and especially his parents.

History: Hatched not long before Angela and Broadway
left for Avalon in the 21st century, Samson's earliest memories are
mostly of that blessed isle where his mother had been raised and of
the strange people who inhabited it. While it was a fun enough
place, Avalon was boring (at least in the sense that it was a small
island in the middle of nowhere) and he was actually excited to go
back to New York with his family.

There he did what little he could to help in the
rebuilding of the city and the establishment of the Manhattan Clan
as a centerpiece of gargoyle existence. And, of course, he took in
the sights, and began making friends in his new home (it really
helped that these new friends couldn't use magic, and that they
weren't constant practical jokers) both gargoyle and human. The
only rough spot in this existence was the building friction between
his sister Gwen and their mother Angela. In this, Samson tried to
help by being Gwen's friend and showing her that there was still
something in the Clan for her.

Brooklyn's visits threw this life askew, as it did with
the rest of his family, though to a lesser degree. Of more import
was Gwen's disappearance, which caused Samson a fair amount of
worry, and after Brooklyn's second visit the rise of Nicolas Maddox
and the trouble he has brought on the Clan. Samson is now training
himself for the position of warrior which, while he doesn't have any
aversion to fighting, he doesn't relish.

Goals: Early on in his life, Samson doesn't have much in
the way of life goals except being a credit to his clan and trying
to find a way to get Gwen and Angela to be on speaking terms again.
Later, when Apep is loose and Gwen's relation to Harthoth is
revealed, Samson joins in the fight against the clan's enemies,
including his sister; he's a lot less forgiving than Artus (largely
because of his youth and hot-headedness), and is more along the
lines of nailing her if the opportunity presents itself.
