Subject: Main - GPAC & villians

I like Todd's idea. It was something I was developing too. A Political Action Committee on gargoyles. I call it GPAC for lack of a better name to knock the wind out PIT's sails.

I like the idea of letting the truth do the gargoyles in. It's something that as heroes they have limited defense against. I say all the truth comes out. The City of Stone, the virus, the testing, the raid on the electric
plant. Not all at once, but the clan's actions haven't always been 100% honorable. Since Goliath accepted Demona back into the clan, that means he and the clan areresponsible for her actions. In a way its like a CO taking responsiblity for a soldiers actions. With these truths out how will the clan must support? How will PIT appear anything serious than a charity benefit for privilaged yuppie types like save the harbor seals' fleas or protect Ms. Gregor's backyard.

Chislers> Actually when the thought of the Chisler's popped into my head, the phrase 'Familiarity breeds contempt' kept pulsating in my brain. The gargoyles are effective because they look fearsome. Their strength and speed are marginalized because of guns and particle rifles. The thing they have going for them is that they scare the begebes out of the criminal element. But that shock value won't last forever. It's been five years. Would anyone whose been in NY all that time be that scared of them. When I thought of the Chisleres it was part contempt and also the equivalent of lynch mobs that poliferated after the Civil War. Feat compells people to do hateful things and while the gargoyles use fear to intimidate, they don't seem to be getting the
other end. The random violence. It's easy to take down thugs individually, but what if Broadway or the kids suddenly got ambushed by a *real* gang. Not just 3 or 4 gusy, but a gang of 15 - 20 all with hate in their eye, all intent on ripping you limb from limb. Their only motivation is that they ae afraid of you and now they hate you.

Taking stock of the villians, i thinnk we may be in good shape.
Thailog> I see his many motivations being personal. Reclaiming Nightstone (a must)Damaging Xanatox (a hobby), stealing back the clones. (just an image I have of Goliath and the others returning to the Labyrinth to find the place in disarray, Sharon and Dr. Goldblum unconscious and the clones, including Delilah gone.)

Illuminati> I wouldn't rely on them top much to fill the villain vacuum. Essentially you have the same problem with Madoc & the Unseelies and with Apep, someone that is too powerful. How many times can the gargoyles interfere with their plans before someone in the Society orders a sniper to take out clan as they fly patrols or going super hi-tech uses a laser satillite to demolish them in their sleep. Whatever the Illuminati plans, if the gargoyles interfere, the society should have an alternate means to achieve its ends. I think Bluestone's involvment in the society has more to offer.

Organized Crime> Definately a main player. if anyone should be a casualty, Dracon should be it. I say this because of what little development is left to him. SUW made him into good guy. The only options I see are up and down. Up, he realizes he has some good guy tendecies. Or down, he reverts to type. An idea of mine is that the rest of organize crime wants Tony eliminated. He started working with the cops and the gargoyles. And he used the cops to take care of Tommy, instead of doing it himself. (That sounds like cheating to me.)
So they decide not to wait for Tony to make the next leap and take care of him for good. I think Brode should be back and Tommy. Brode has the sheer brutality coming from East Europe gangs, while Yakuza have the brains.

Last thing I'll add is to be circumspect about adding new characters. We've gone from a cast of twenty in the series to triple that. Counting the Unseelies nearly a hundred. Lets use or retire a lot of the excess
cast.Something like Richard and Quinn moving to Conneticut or Dr. Goldblum taking early retirement. If we had the time I'd say we examine each character, but since we don't I say keep what we use and toss out what we don't. I know it sounds harsh, but it has to be said.
